Happy Chatty Speech Therapy provides individualised support for a variety of speech, language and communication needs. Therapy takes place within the child's home or school/nursery and offers in-depth assessment, personalised targets and engaging activities to maximise your child’s motivation and speech and language development. As well as offering evidence-based intervention, therapy sessions offer a unique opportunity for family centred intervention. Parents and/or carers are invited to get involved within the sessions and practice carrying out activities modelled by the therapist to become skilled in carrying out speech and language therapy plans, discussing how best to incorporate speech and language activities within daily family routines in order to maximise your child’s opportunities to develop and generalise their skills.
Initial assessment enables the therapist to assess your child's areas of strengths and areas of need in order to assess their need for intervention as well as set targets for subsequent therapy. Initial assessment consists of case history, observations, informal and formal assessment.
Approximate time of appointment: 90 minutes followed by a detailed report of assessment findings.
Therapy sessions will target your child's areas of need through evidence based practice using a range of strategies and approaches to support your child's language development.
The therapist will also use this time to model activities to caregivers so that they can support generalisation of skills and implement strategies day-to-day.
Approximate time of appointment: 45 minutes
Speech and language therapy review sessions evaluate your child's progress towards their targets and identify current targets based on their areas of need. Review sessions typically take place after a period of therapy or when your child achieves their current targets.
Approximate time of appointment: 60 minutes followed a brief report to summarise progress, outline current areas of need and new targets.
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
All children develop at their own pace and therefore it can be hard to know if your child requires specialist input or not. Here at Happy Chatty we want parents to have the option to enquire without fee or obligation, therefore we offer a free telephone consultation with a therapist to any concerned parent/carer. Simply use our 'Send Message' feature below or email us directly at admin@happychattyspeechtherapy.co.uk to arrange your telephone consultation.
The amount of therapy needed depends on the individual needs of the child and how they respond to therapy. Therapy targets are regularly monitored and reviewed to assess your child's progress. You are free to withdraw from therapy at any time.
The Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) require all practicing speech and language therapists to register and in doing so are required to continue to meet the standards of proficiency that are relevant to their scope of practice - the areas of their profession in which they have the knowledge and skills to practise safely and effectively.
